A loan of $125 helped to pay for a more efficient cooking gas package of liquefied petroleum gas.

Santa's story

Santa is a resident of Entebbe. She is seeking a Kiva loan to enable her to buy an efficient and clean cooking gas package.

The package is a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) package. LPG is an efficient cooking fuel that is better than charcoal, which Santa has been using. Santa says that a charcoal stove takes a long time to light up, and also it wastes energy since it is never regulated. The charcoal burns until it is used up, unlike LPG, with which the heat can be regulated.

Santa says that she spends most of the day lighting up a charcoal stove and by the end of the day she realizes that she has done less meaningful work. She hopes that with acquiring an LPG cookstove, she will get something that can bring in money to the family.
