Romas's story

Meet 50-year-old Romas. He is married and has eight children, all of them are in school. Romas sells Coca-Cola products on a wholesale basis to local retailers and customers in Mandevu compound, a high-density area north of the capital city in Lusaka, Zambia.

Romas has been running his business for nineteen years. On any given day, Romas can be found at the red and white shipping containers filled with crates of Coke, Fanta and Sprite. He enjoys running his business because it gives him the chance to interact with other small business owners in his community. He talks about how his business is the only source of income that his family has.

Romas has applied for a Kiva loan to purchase more stock such as Fanta, Coca-Cola and Sprite. By purchasing this additional stock it will help with expanding his business and profit. Romas is confident that accessing microfinance will allow him to grow his business and provide a better life for his wife and children.
