Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $500 helped buy products such as: rice, sugar, beans, oil, onions, flours, various drinks, etc to expand her business.

Adelia's story

Adelia is the mother of 7 children, 1 of whom is of age but lives at home, and all are her responsibility. She is 38 years old, lives with her husband who is a community leader and she is dependent on her business which she conducts out of a stall at her home.

This is the first time she is taking a loan from Hluvuku and with it she intends to buy products such as: rice, sugar, beans, oil, onions, flours, various drinks, etc to expand her business which is her largest source of income, aside from her husband's subsidy.

Her biggest dream is to develop her business and guarantee better living conditions for her children.
She says she doesn't have many challenges as she feels relatively stable in life.
