A loan of $500 helped to make home improvements.

Teresa De Jesús's story

Teresa is 71 years old and did not attend school due to a lack of schools when she was growing up, so she didn’t’ have access to education. She is married and her husband is a farmer; he takes the basic grains home. They have children but they no longer live at home and have their own lives now. No one else lives with them.

She cares for the home and has done so all her life. Her mother taught her everything about caring for the home, the animals, and her marriage and she keeps this knowledge. She doesn’t have any other activities and her children help her with her expenses.

She is asking for this loan to improve her home and buy building materials such as sand, iron bars, cement, and pay for labor so she can have a more dignified home in which to live. She will accomplish this through her building project.

Her dream is to be able to have a dignified home that she can leave to her children and she hopes that her children will keep the knowledge that she has taught them since they were young.
