A loan of $6,075 helped a member to buy spices wholesale.

Abejitas De Collpani Group's story

The “ABEJITAS DE COLLPANI” communal bank has started their 26th cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Collpani regional office. It has 8 members and is lead by a board of directors with Mauricia as president. The businesses of the members are varied, amongst them are: sewing bed-clothing, selling sweaters, a neighborhood store, selling utensils, selling wood products, selling flowers and sewing back packs

The loan will benefit all of these micro-entrepreneurs including Mauricia. She joined Pro Mujer 7 years ago on the invitation of a member of the institution who visited her in her house. She has a business selling spices. She says that she learned about this business from her mother who she used to help. Later she decided to start her own business in her area.

The loan will be used to increase her working capital buying spices wholesale from the distribution centers in the city of El Alto. Then she will sell them in her commercial space. Working in this way allows her to generate income to help her family. She lives in a common-law relationship and has 6 children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer she replied that she likes the training about loans and health and the health and saving services offered by the institution.
