Patrick's story

Patrick is a married with three children. When he lost his job as a salesman at the Total petrol station in Kumba he welcomed unemployment as an opportunity to become self-employed. He traveled back to his native village and joined GHAPE in 2004. With his two previous loans he has succeeded in providing his community with fish, pork and manure.

Given a loan of $800, he plans to buy nine piglets, sticks to repair his fence, pig feed, and Belgo concentrate feed for fish. He is convinced he will succeed for because of his motivation, the skills he learned in trainings, the available market and his commitment to success. He plans to repay the loan in 18 months. The first installment will be four months from the date of disbursement of the loan.
