Monica is 60 years old and lives in Nacional, Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. She is married with one child, who is now at an adult age.
For her source of living, Monica has a little store and sells groceries and other consumable products. She earns approximately 2,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) each month doing this type of business activity. She has requested a loan to be used in purchasing additional groceries and other consumable products for retailing.
Monica has been a member of PMPC for almost six years. In the future, Monica hopes to be engaged in another type of business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
