A loan of $2,275 helped a member to purchase four superior piglets.

Sari Mertha Group's story

Ni Luh has succeeded in maintaining her pig business. During this loan period she had five pigs and all were sold. She spent 3,500,000 IDR for feed and she bought piglets with 1,500,000 IDR. Ni Luh has earned gross profits of 7,000,000 IDR, and after deducting all costs she has 2,000,000 IDR. She’s very grateful for the profits. She thanks MUK, KIVA and all of the lenders. For the next period, she’ll borrow again and buy new piglets. They expect to increase the loan size to buy more piglets and feed. To increase the business, the Sari Mertha group continues to borrow loans from MUK, and they request a bigger loan size. Each of the members receives 2,000,000 IDR. After succeeding with the last loan, Ni Luh wants to borrow a loan to purchase four superior piglets and sell them for fattening pigs. Now, the price for one superior piglet is 500,000 IDR. All the profits from this business will be saved, and she hopes the business will grow and she will become a successful pig breeder.
