A loan of $2,250 helped to build a respectable house for her family.

Irma's story

Irma is 27 years old, she sells tacos and sodas to employees and other people in a “taquería” (taco´s place). As it´s near a highway, it´s usually crowded. She would like to have a restaurant in the future. In her free time she does embroidery activities and she loves them. She sells as much as possible to earn resources for her family. She enjoys taking care of her 5 years-old son; she mentions that the main reason to build a house for the family is the love she feels for her son, so that he won´t get sick as much as he does living in the current house.
Alejandro (Irma´s husband, 34 years old) likes to play with him every day and wants to teach him how to work in his business, but he also wants him to go to school to learn. He supports his family working in a tire repair shop he just opened near the highway. The nearness to the highway assures them clients. He would also like to buy more machines to have a better service for his customers and this way earn more money. But he knows that the priority is a house where they can rest well, because they are currently living in a weak structure with a thin roof made of tin and with the latrine outside the house.
