A loan of $675 helped to buy groceries and fishing supplies.

Rosa Magdalena's story

The loan group Aquí Hay Esperanza (Here There is Hope) meets every two weeks in the canton of Jaramijo. This place is known for the beautiful beaches that line the coast of this beautiful place. Here, the majority of the people are very hardworking and do work related to the sea.
Rosa lives in this place. She is 31 years old and has a common law husband and 3 children who are 15, 13, and 12 years old. Two of them are in high school. Her husband is a fisherman.
To earn something of her own and to give her children what they need, Rosa started a little grocery store in her home with the first loan that her group received. She has been growing the business little by little in order to satisfy her customers. She sells rice, sugar, oils, detergents, and other things. She will also give part of the loan to her husband to buy fishing supplies.
This loan will be used to buy groceries and fishing supplies. She has been in the loan group for 2 loan cycles and she likes it because she started her business with the loans. Her dream is to have a well-stocked store.
