Mirian Mariuxi's story

The Aquí Hay Esperanza (Here There is Hope) credit group meets every two weeks in the Jaramijo area. This place is known for the beautiful beaches that bathe the coasts of this lovely place. Here the majority of people are very hardworking and do work related to the ocean. Mirian lives in this place. She is 24 years old and married. From her marriage she has a two-year-old child. She is four months pregnant with her second child. Her husband works in fishing. Doña Mirian is a great wife and homemaker who is taking out a loan to help her husband, who works in fishing. Together with another person, he heads out to the high seas in his little boat to fish. They leave at dawn and return in the afternoon or even the next day, depending on how the fishing is. After catching a good quantity of fish and shrimp, they deliver them to merchants who come to the beach to later take the catch to other cities. Her husband has done this work since he was very small, and it is how he is getting his family ahead. This loan is to buy fishing supplies and fuel for his boat. This is her third loan cycle with the communal bank. She likes it because in this way she can help her husband. Her dream is to have her baby.
