A loan of $1,325 helped to buy agricultural supplies to support and protect her coffee plantings.

Nora Esperanza's story

Nora is a young woman of 26 who is married and the mother of 3 children. She is a farmer and homemaker who dedicates herself to planting and growing coffee. At the age of 15, she started working in this profession alongside her parents. They were also the ones who passed the land along to her which she works today, together with her husband. The land is located an hour's walk from the house where they live, and they are all involved as a family. When she was younger, she was not able to study, because her parents did not have the economic means for her to get an education.

Nora's plans for the future as a coffee producer are to keep expanding her coffee plantings and to have an adequate economic foundation. In this way, she will avoid putting her children in the situation she faced: not being able to study or get an academic education. She is requesting financial support to buy agricultural supplies, which will be of great help and benefit for her crops, helping keep them clean and safe from pests and diseases which can cause crop losses. She hopes to be supported by many Kiva investors, since her household economy depends on coffee production, and at this time she lacks the economic resources to buy these supplies.
