Donnina Victoria's story

The members of the communal bank "Narcisa Del Jesús" meet every two weeks in Jipijapa Canton. The canton is known by the name of the coffee sultana because of its extensive coffee crops, which are unrivaled in flavor. The canton is also known for its cuisine and the warmth of its people.
This is where señora Donnina lives. She is 73-years old. Her dear husband passed away a few years ago. With him, señora Donnina had ten children, all of whom are now grown and live independently from her. One 11-year old grandson lives with her, and he goes to school.
Doña Donnina is a very hard-working woman who likes to get ahead through her work and efforts. She is taking out this loan for the restaurant she has in the city center. She earns her living making delicious breakfasts in her restaurant every day. Also, in partnership with one of her sons, she sells fish by the piece and by the pound. She sells the fish from the same storefront where she has her restaurant. Doña Donnina has been in this business for nine years, and it has enabled her to get ahead.
This loan will be used to purchase rice, meat, fish and supplies for making food and selling fish. Doña Donnina has been in her communal bank for ten years. She likes it because the loans have helped her a lot. Her dream is to give her grandson the best.
