Sonnia María's story

The Narcisa Del Jesús credit group meets every two weeks in the Jipijapa canton. It is known as the Sultana of Coffee because of the extensive coffee crops with incomparable flavor. It is also known for its gastronomy and for the warmth of its people.

This is where Sonnia lives. She is 42 years old. She is married and has two children, aged 11 and 4. They are in school and pre-school. Her husband is a master welder.

In order to help her husband with the household expenses and to feel independent, Sonnia started a business 16 years ago. She has a little restaurant in her house where with her sister's and her mother's help she prepares delicious lunches that delight her customers. She only makes lunches and on the weekends they prepare food and appetizers for parties and social events. In general, she has one or two contracts a weekend for these events. Nowadays, the work is very hard, but it also brings in good profit.

She is going to use this loan to buy rice, meat, fish, and other groceries to prepare the food. She has been in the credit group for 11 years and she likes it because of the help of the loans. Her goals are to continue with her business.
