A loan of $2,300 helped purchase supplies and fertilizers to maintain his coffee plantation.

Ivan's story

Iván is 38 years old. He is a small-scale coffee farmer in the northern region of Nicaragua. He lives with his wife and his eight-month old son in a community in the Jinotega district. He has always worked growing coffee, and he currently produces under the Fair Trade certification criteria.

For this production cycle, this small producer is seeking financing that will allow him to purchase supplies and fertilizers to maintain and harvest his coffee plantations. The proper care that Iván provides to his crops will also allow him to produce a better harvest which will contribute to his ability to improve his family's living conditions by generating more income.
