A loan of $1,000 helped to buy different types of clothes for sale.

Adiah's story

Adiah is 50 years old and lives in the town of Mbale in the Mbale region of Uganda. She is a widow and has three children who are all currently in school. For the past 12 years, Adiah has been working hard to manage her clothing boutique.

To help expand her business, Adiah has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy different types of clothes for sale and will help Adiah to generate greater profits and pay school fees for her children. Adiah hopes that in the future, she will be able to become richer and educate her children in better schools.

Adiah is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Adiah who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
