Veng's Group's story

Veng is 46 years old and a rural villager from Sang Ke district of Battambang province. She is widowed and blessed with five children who are still under her responsibility. For her family, rice farming is the only source of income to cover the daily basic needs. This business earns her about 31,600 KHR per day.

This is the ninth-cycle microloan for her with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) and she is a leader of a group consisting of four members and they are requesting a loan. She has utilized her past loan with success and it has enabled her to improve her lifestyle. The total amount of her entire group loan is 3,000,000 KHR, of which 1,200,000 KHR is her loan portion. As a leader, she will spend her loan portion to pay for plowing and reaping fees, fertilizer, seeds, and insecticide. She hopes to gain a better yield than before.
