Kek's Group's story

Originally from Moung Russey district of Battambang province, Kek is 35 years old and a married mother blessed with three dependent kids who remain in school. Kek strives for a living via selling bus tickets and grocery items as her main source of income. She has been involved with this business for 17 years, and it has earned her a decent income. This is the seventh loan cycle for her and the fifth loan cycle for her joint borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has repaid her past loans with success, and the positive impact of the past loan has enabled her to uplift her lifestyle better than before. Now, she and her joint borrower are requesting a loan with the same amount of 1,400,000 KHR (Cambodian riels) each. As a leader, she will use her loan portion to buy more grocery items for reselling. She hopes to increase her income more than before.
