A loan of $4,300 helped to pay for her studies in textile chemistry.

Lucero Yesabel's story

Lucero, age 22, is the fourth of nine siblings. She lives with her mother, a housewife, and her father, a taxi driver. Neither of her parents has a higher education, and they wish for their daughter to have the opportunity that they did not have to become a professional.

In the afternoons Lucero worked at a natural products store. With this income she made her initial payment for her studies. However, the number of class hours has increased, and she has had to stop work because she did not have the time available to study. She has three younger siblings, and her parents are not able to help her financially. Therefore, she would not be able to continue studying without the help of the Kiva lenders.

Her dream is to be able to be a professional and to work at a textile company. She wants to do this in order to combine and create dying solutions. This way she will be able to help her family and her younger sister financially so that she will also be able to have a professional career.

She is profoundly grateful for the help that the Kiva lenders give to students like her. She thinks that education is something that makes you grow as a person. The knowledge that you acquire can be transmitted and positively influence the environment.
