Zivana, 64 years old, lives in one of the minority communities in Kosovo with her son, her husband and their grandchildren. Her son is the main source of income, but has a low salary at his place of employment. Because her husband worked for a railway in the past, he receives a monthly pension.

Zivana is a hard workingwoman; she and her husband have worked together in agriculture for many years now in order to provide additional income for their family. They have land where they plant wheat, corn and different vegetables for their family to consume and to sell. Now, they are in need of some new tractor tools in order to make their work more effective and efficient. This loan will be a great help to them, as it will help to continue decreasing family expenses and bring additional income into the house. Zivana wants to thank all for the lending.

More information about this loan

This loan will support the economic aspirations of minority people in Kosovo. Roma people and ethnic Serbians have historically faced a tremendous amount of hardship in Kosovo, and are still socioeconomically and politically vulnerable. During the 1998-1999 war, the fighting displaced 250,000 people. Among those displaced were an estimated 80-90% of the region’s Roma population. Today, Roma and ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo still face discrimination and are excluded from many aspects of society, including fair political representation and high rates of unemployment. By supporting this loan you are helping provide opportunity to marginalized populations.
