A loan of $1,050 helped to buy sacks of coffee and cocoa for resale.

Mensah's story

Mensah A. is 32 years old, unmarried, and has no children. He is a buyer of coffee and cocoa products from growers, and he resells them to international exporters. He has been doing this work for three years in Danyi, a village located about 175 km from Lomé, the Togolese capital. Given that the suppliers are demanding payment in cash, Mensah hopes to use this loan to meet their demands and to derive a profit, since sales will increase due to the increase in purchases.
