Luciana's story

Luciana is a 71-year-old woman. She has worked as a merchant since 1963, when she decided to generate her own income and launched her business venture. She sells a variety of merchandise which her customers request, on terms they can afford. Her main products are cosmetics, shoes, perfumes, decorative items for the home and for all occasions. She offers these items directly to the final consumer, through cash sales and credit sales through specialized product guides. She works 8 hours a day, and her business is based in her home. Her goal is to continue supporting her children in formal education, but her greatest challenge is to have sufficient income to strengthen her business, generate profits and achieve her dream of prosperity. Currently, Luciana is applying for a Kiva loan to buy shoes, cosmetics, perfumes and women's accessories, to respond to orders which her best customers have placed with her, and which she would like to fulfill, in order to satisfy them and keep them loyal.
