Mbeyu is married and has seven children who attend school. For the past four years, she has operated a food kiosk business, selling to her neighbors and passersby.
Mbeyu requested a loan from Yehu, which she will use to purchase cooking oil, sweets, groundnuts, and sugar for her business. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business. Mbeyu owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
