A loan of $1,600 helped to buy coconuts and fruits.

Nancy Francisca's story

The "San Patricio" loan group meets every fortnight in the Cuba barrio of Manta, a city known for its beautiful beaches that are visited all year round. The city is also known for its many tourist attractions and unbeatable beauty.

And it is here that 47-year-old Nancy lives. She is married and has six children. Five of the children are adults while the youngest is 16 years old and still lives at home. Nancy's husband works for a local business.

Nancy has always liked to work in order to earn her own income to look after the family. She has a cart in the city centre and, being opposite the city court, the area is frequented by many people every day of the week. At this cart, Nancy sells frozen coconut water and delicious fruit salads that she prepares herself. Her products are popular with her customers who come by every day to refresh themselves with these delicious drinks. Nancy has had the business for over a year and it allows her to earn an income to look after her family.

This loan will be used to buy coconuts and fruits for preparing the fruit salads. Nancy has been a member of the loan group for over ten years and she likes it because of the benefits that she receives. Nancy's dream is to prosper with her business.
