Miguel Angel's story

Miguel Ángel lives in the San Pedro barrio of the Contales department in Nicaragua. In spite of being 52 years old, he continues to work in the country growing crops. This work allowed him to bring up his six children. Miguel's wife has always supported him and together the couple has started up a small business in their home. When they are not working in the field, Miguel works at the family business. His two youngest children - who are still in school and under Miguel's responsibility - also support him with the business. Miguel is applying for this loan in order to stock up his business as demand has increased in the last few months. Miguel needs to buy basic grains, juices, fizzy drinks, cold meats, meat and other products which he will offer to his loyal local customers, and to other passers-by,
