A loan of $1,200 helped to pay for five colonies of bees.

Marusya's story

Marusya is a mother of six children, five daughters and a son. Together with her husband, they are involved in agriculture. They keep livestock (cows, calves, chickens and bees) and cultivate land (corn, haricots and potatoes).

Besides their farm, Marusya's husband also takes care of local villagers' colonies of bees. The income that he gathers is vital for this big family's living.

Marusya applied for this loan of USD 1,200 to be able to purchase five more colonies of bees for their farm.

She would like to enlarge the production of honey, and be able to gather more income for her family's living.

As this is Marusya's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF. The first-chance loan program provides loans to people who didn’t have access to credit products in the past because they have no credit history.
