Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Teresa De Jesus's story

She is 45 and the mother of three children, two of whom are still dependent on her. Teresa’s husband is a photographer. With her first loan from Manuela Ramos of 300 soles, she decided to invest in a nectar business.

Now she depends on her meal sales and is used to getting up early to conduct her activities.

With this 1,200 sol loan, which she will repay in five months, Teresa will buy 10 kilos of tomatoes, 20 chickens, 15 kilos of potatoes, lettuce and other foods.

Thanks to Manuela Ramos, her business and her family’s economic stability have improved.
