A loan of $500 helped to purchase more hens.

Charity's story

Charity is a 35-year-old widow living in Nkayi, a rural district in Zimbabwe. As a single mother of two, she is the sole breadwinner in her family. Charity currently runs a poultry business which she started in 2010. She mainly specializes in the rearing of laying hens for egg production. She sells eggs at the local market and to residents in her community. Her children assist her with the running of the poultry business. Charity will use the Kiva loan to purchase more laying hens to increase production of eggs. With increased production and profits, Chairty will be able to pay school fees for her children as well as improve her current standard of living.
