A loan of $525 helped to buy agricultural inputs for her coffee crops.

Maria Janeth's story

Maria is an enterprising 44 year old woman. She is married and the mother of 7 children. She attended abut did not finish her Primary school studies. Her two oldest daughters are independent so only 5 of her children are dependent on her. Two of them are in High school and the other three are in different grades in Primary school.

For the past 10 years Maria has been growing coffee. She also plants corn and beans for household consumption. She and her husband have a lot of experience in this field as both their families have the tradition of working the land with different crops. The coffee crops which they work together on as a family are their own. Their customers are different wholesalers and intermediaries in the area amongst others.

One of her greatest worries is the lack of support for her crops as the market prices for the inputs are unstable and expensive. So she needs a loan to buy manure and fertilizer which will be used in the best way possible to help her coffee crops this season. Maria dreams of a future improving her living conditions, supporting her children in their studies and hope that they don't have to live the the same conditions.
