A loan of $150 helped to buy more ingredients for her food stall.

Hawa's story

Please meet Hawa from Liberia, a self-described sixth grade drop-out who is now a skilful business woman. Hawa says she established her business with a little money from her fiancée. She works from Monday to Saturday spending ten hours each day in her food stall business, which has been selling bowls of rice and soup in the local market for the past 14 years now. She enjoys her business because she has lots of customers and she can make a profit. She is requesting a loan to purchase more food ingredients for her stall.

Hawa is 44 years old and lives in Sinkor, an area of the Liberian capital of Monrovia. She is not married, and has six children aged between 14 and 25 years old, only three of whom are in school and live at home. Her plan for the future is to build a house.
