A loan of $900 helped to buy organic fertilizer and cacao seedlings.

Erlinda's story

Erlinda, 36, is married to Luis and has two children. The children live with her in her home, which is made of good materials. From a very young age, she grew up on the field where she learned about farm labor with her family. She now works in farming, with the goal of helping her parents to sustain the family finances.

More than fifteen years ago, she and her husband committed to each other and she obtained her own plot of land with the help of her parents. She managed to plant cacao, coffee, barbasco, and other plants which benefit her local area. She maintains her crops constantly with her husband or with the help of local laborers, whom she contracts when she has collective work with weeding and harvesting. She likes her work because she considers it to be very calm. Thanks to this work, she managed to construct her humble home with good materials to improve her family's quality of life.

At this time, she would like to have 2,500 Peruvian new soles to buy cacao seedlings to plant on her land, as well as sacks of organic fertilizer for the next productive season.
