A loan of $1,475 helped a member to buy wax pagnes (traditional, wrap-around clothing) for resale.

Sabaly Group's story

The seven members of the Sabaly Group are all married women who are, on average, 42 years old and have three children. Most of them live in traditional families in Ouayerma I, a busy district of Sikasso (third administrative region of Mali).

This will be the group's thirteenth loan with the field partner, Soro Yiriwaso, and it will be used to satisfy the demands of their customers.

Kadia (sitting in the middle of the photo) sells wax pagnes (traditional, wrap-around clothing). She will use her loan to buy fifteen wax pagnes from Sikasso. Kadia is well known for the quality of the clothing she sells, she sells her product to individual men and women, locally and at the Ouayerma I market, for cash or on credit.

Kadia expects to make a monthly average profit of 45,000 francs CFA, which she will use to repay her loan and interest, and increase her savings.

In this group: Habi, Nana, Fatouma, Maimouna, Ferima, Kadia, Salimata
