A loan of $225 helped to pay for additional supplies and merchandise products like clothing, footwear, undergarments and cosmetics needed in her business.

Jena Ruth's story

This is Jena Ruth, 37, a resident of Dasmariñas, Cavite, Philippines. She is married to Jumar, a technician, and they have a child. She, together with her husband, manages their household while operating the business. She and her husband are working hard to provide income for their everyday needs.

Jena Ruth maintains a direct selling business. She sells clothing, footwear, undergarments, cosmetics and other products through the popular direct selling brands like Avon, Fuller life, Natasha, Boardwalk, Marikina Shoe Exchange, and others. A customer's order is bought in cash by the dealer and then given to the customer with a one-month-to-pay credit. Dealer’s prices are lower than those in the catalog, and these are the profits that dealers are investing in as their income. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of 2,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) in sales every week.

To help her continue operations of her business, she is requesting a 10,000 PHP loan. She will be utilizing the loan to buy additional supplies and merchandise products like shampoo, cologne, deodorant, perfume, soap, fabric softener, undergarments and other products needed in her business.

Jena Ruth dreams that her business will continue to grow and expand and hopes that her child will have a good future and education. She meets up with her co-fellowship* members to share stories of her life and business every week, and this is where she can also draw strength and inspiration from the fellowship and the Word of God she studies.

* All CCT community partners/clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital and pay microfinance loans.
