Mataniu is 45 years old and married with five children. She runs a small BBQ business selling to the public and people around her community. She has been doing this for four years. Mataniu has requested a loan to buy iron roofing, timber, cement, paint, and nails for her BBQ stall renovation. She joined SPBD in 2010 to gain access to capital. With her earnings, Mataniu will look at improving her business and helping with her family and kids' daily needs.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
