A loan of $1,000 helped to buy compost and herbicides for his planting of corn and beans, and to buy work material such as metal sheeting, tin, lead, and sealant.

José Pedro's story

José is 48 years old. He only went to school through fourth grade. He is separated from his wife, with whom he has three children. One lives with him, one has a partner, and the other daughter is eight years old and lives with her mother and attends school. He lives with his mother. He has always worked in agriculture, but for 16 years he has worked making metal silos (tinsmithing). He learned this work from CARE, since they trained him. He does the work in his home, and one of his sons helps him.

He will invest the loan that he has applied for in the purchase of compost and herbicides for his planting of corn and beans and in the purchase of work materials such as metal sheets, tin, lead, and sealer. His work plans are to improve to have more customers. He is thinking of helping his children with their schooling. The loan will help him since he can buy the necessary materials all at once, and it will be cheaper. He spends the earnings to feed his children.
