A loan of $1,100 helped to buy a moto-taxi.

Fabiola Marilu's story

The El Arbolito community bank meets twice a month in the city of Tosagua. It's a fast-growing area, known for the richness of its farmland, and most local people make their living from farming and raising animals.
Sra. Fabiola, 52, is separated from her husband. Her four grown children live nearby with their own families.
Doña Fabiola wants to get ahead with hard work and effort. She makes a living doing various jobs and she is applying for a loan now because she wants to start a taxi business. She will use the loan to buy a moto-taxi, the most common form of transportation here. She says the investment will provide her with a good income and also give her son, who will operate the taxi, an income for supporting his own family.
This loan will be used to buy a moto-taxi. Sra. Fabiola has joined five rounds of funding with the community bank and says that past loans have helped her to support herself. Her hope for the future is that she and her family have good health.
