A loan of $1,000 helped to help Kamila buy a new sewing machine.

Kamila's story

Kamila, 66, is a widow. Her face is blurred in the photo for cultural reasons.

After Kamila's husband died, she had hard time supporting herself. Fortunately, she had an old sewing machine that she could use to take on sewing jobs. She gained an excellent reputation in the neighborhood for her work, thanks to the high quality of her workmanship and affordable prices. However, her sewing machine is very slow, which means that it takes her longer to complete her tasks.

When she heard about a loan opportunity for widows through Izdiharona's Gard Hassan Program, she requested a loan to purchase a new sewing machine. A new machine would reduce her work hours and increase her profit. Kamila's aim is to open a big sewing factory.
