Fatou's Group's story

This group of six women is part of the 'banc villageois' which was created on November 16, 2009. It is composed essentially of women from the same district. They maintain good relationships, and they work in commerce. Ndéye, who is at the right in the photo with her hand raised, is 41 years old, married, and the mother five children, including three girls.

With this loan, she envisions processing peanuts and selling the peanut oil and peanut butter. She is going to purchase some peanuts at 225,000 francs. She makes sure that half of the peanuts is processed into oil and the rest into peanut butter. It is a business that is going well, since she can sell a liter of peanut oil at 750 francs and peanut butter at 700 francs per kilo.

The profits enable her to save money and to meet family needs.
