A loan of $1,500 helped to buy ingredients to make pastries.

Karen's story

Karen, 32, is single and has no dependents. She takes care of her parents a lot and intends to improve their current situation, so she helps them financially. Karen has earned a living for six years making pastry (rolls, empanadas, "brazo gitano" [jelly roll], "alfajor" cookies). She generally sells her pastry to the financial businesses located in the southern part of the city of Cochabamba. Her goal for this loan is to buy the ingredients she needs to make pastry. She has customers who order large quantities of her products because they're so well made and tasty to a lot of people. To satisfy this demand she needs to increase production. This way Karen will manage to improve her income and grow in her business, all the while looking after her family's well-being.
