Annapurna Sri Chaitanya Shg Group's story

Annapurna Sri Chaitanya Self Help Group was formed with ten members in 2011 in a small village in Odisha. They all came together to help each other and solve the social issues among them, save money and provide financial support to their families. They chose Basanti as the leader of their group. The lady standing with her raised hand is Basanti. She is a 45-year-old woman living with her husband and her three children.

Since seven years ago, Basanti’s husband has been working as a farmer to manage his small family, but his income is not sufficient to manage the family. So Basanti is helping her husband by working with him and being involved in the milk business. She has three years experience in this business.

She has requested a loan to buy a cow and fodder so that she can increase her family’s income. Basanti says that by selling milk, she can support her family and she can send her children to a good school. Through that, she can provide a better education to her son.

In this group: Basanti, Saudamini, Mamata, Atar, Suka, Basanti, Pramila, Reena, Jayanti, Damayanti
