Alex's story

Alex - 44 years, is married. His wife runs a dairy cattle keeping enterprise and also packages dried fruits for sale. Alex on the other hand is a pineapple farmer. The household has achieved great benefits from farming – including setting up a permanent house. However, their village, Kamila Village - Kayunga District in Uganda, has no access electricity. Yet, Alex and his household have evident needs for electricity; Alex and wife need to constantly charge their phones so as to stay constantly in touch with their customers; their 15 children who are all school going require lighting to study during the night; there is also a general need for security lighting in the night. Alex is seeking loan to acquire a complete solar system to meet the lighting and power needs of his household. This loan will save Alex a kilometer walk every two days to charge his mobile phone, the potential fire risks associated with the use of candles and lanterns and increase the number of study hours for his 15 children.
