She works buying and selling seasonal fruit. She will use this loan to buy tamarind, mango, and jocote (a type of fruit). She can count on her daughter to help her sell her produce. She has developed her business with loans made to her by this institution and she has had 9 loan cycles with this institution. Another member is 44 year old Silvana, who weaves items such as tablecloths for large tables and small tables, square cloths, and round cloths, and much more variety. They also include 32 year old Sadia who runs a bookshop from her home and is responsible for sales in a cafeteria in a school close to her community.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
