Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,500 helped to purchase merchandise for her store.

Evelyn's story

Señora Evelyn is single and 22 years old. She lives in the city towards the locality of Sacaba. Her mother helped her to put together a kiosk where she sells chickens from the broaster Tuesday through Saturday, from 16:00 hours until 21:00. At the same time she sells soft drinks and cleaning products. She needs to work to pay for her nursing studies, which she will be studying beginning this year, in order to have a career and come out ahead.

She lives with her mother and her grandfather, who is very ill and has many healthcare costs. As she wants to grow in her sector, she is requesting a loan to purchase merchandise for her store to supply it with other products for sale such as staple items like sugar, rice, bread and milk. This way she will increase her sales and accomplish both improving her living conditions and saving in order to pay for her studies.
