A loan of $1,525 helped to improve his restaurant, in order to increase his income and one day buy a home for his mother.

Andrés Estiven's story

Andrés is an active, entrepreneurial young man whose spirit of self improvement has motivated him to look for alternative ways to earn a living.

At 22 years of age, he has graduated from technical school where he studied gastronomy. Eighteen months ago he started a business selling fruits and vegetables which was very well received in his neighborhood. He then started another business selling food and beer where he puts his knowledge of cooking into practice. He works with one employee from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Sunday, and after 3 he works at the fruit and vegetable stand.

He is asking for the loan so he can make some alterations to his restaurant. He would like to expand it to have space to accommodate more guests which will allow him to increase his income. Andres says that his greatest desire is to keep both businesses running and provide more employment opportunities. He also dreams of opening a foundation in the countryside to train people of limited resources who want to learn about gastronomy and start their own businesses. Additionally, he would like to earn enough money to buy a house for his mother and enjoy a better quality of life together with her.
