Pascal's story

Pascal – 45, Lives in Kikwanya Village, Kayunga District in Uganda. He is married with 5 school going children. His wife vends plantains at a local market. Pascal on the other hand has been planting pineapples on 7 acres of land for the last 8 years and has registered impressive success, earning over $8000 in a good harvest. Pascal’s success has inspired over 30 of his community members and together they have formed a farmers' cooperative to plant and sell pineapples. Pascal is seeking a loan to expand his farm by about 9 acres of pineapple plantation. The loan will be used to hire a tractor to plough the land, acquire coffee husks for mulching and pay casual labour. Part of the loan will also enable his household acquire a solar kit.
