A loan helped to buy compost and fertilizers for her coffee crop.

Ines's story

Doña Inés is a 56-year-old woman who is determined and has the drive to succeed. She is in a relationship and her household consists of 12 children. Inés is grateful to God that she has such a large family and considers it to be a blessing. In her youth, she only completed two years of primary school since her parents had limited resources and were not able to help her continue. They proceeded to teach her how to work the land when she was very young since farming and growing coffee was a tradition among her parents and grandparents.

Inés has a great deal of experience in this line of work. She and her husband own the land that they cultivate since it was an inheritance from her parents. They involve all of their children in attending and maintaining the land, as well as harvesting coffee beans at the end of the season.

Doña Inés is requesting financial support so that she can buy compost and fertilizers for her coffee crop. This will enable her to achieve a bountiful harvest of which she can take full advantage. Her goals are to cultivate a better variety of crops, which includes other types of products as long as God allows her to work. As she goes about her work in the fields, she hopes that the support from the various Kiva lenders will enable her to continue and help her to strengthen her family’s assets.
