Ann Islamia Shg Group's story

A portion of this group loan will go to support Salma. She is the president of “Ann Islamia SHG" self-help group, and is pictured here as the lady seated with her hand raised. Most of the women in her group are working in dairy farming or own other small businesses in their village in Odisha, a state on the eastern coast of India.

With her portion of the loan, Salma will buy more cows to increase her dairy farming business. Her husband works as a florist in the village, and they both support their one child together. After this loan, Salma will be able to be more independent and help give her family a better standard of living.

Salma is an entrepreneur at heart and has big dreams of one day owning a large dairy farm. All the members of this group are belong to same community. The women in the group also plan to save the money they earn from expanding their businesses to buy a food processing machine, which they can all use to make spices and pickle vegetables together.
