He likes to grow maxán because chemicals aren't used in its production and it doesn't damage the environment. He also transports people from town to town in his pick-up. Manuel is requesting a loan from ADICLA for the amount of $925 to buy an acre of land to grow more maxán. In the future Manuel wants to buy another pick-up so that he can keep making journeys.

Manuel, es una persona de 38 años de edad, vive con sus cuatro hijos en el municipio de Nahualá, departamento de Sololá, el primero de sus hijos tiene 15 años, estudia tercero básico, el segundo tiene 13 años estudia primero básico, el tercero tiene 8 años está en cuarto primaria, y el último tiene 10 meses, obtiene ingresos por la venta de maxán, se dedica a esta actividad desde hace 35 años, le gusta cultivar maxán por que no utiliza químicos en la producción y no daña el medio ambiente, también traslada personas de un municipio a otro en su pick-up, Manuel solicita un crédito a ADICLA por un monto de Q. 7,000.00 para compra una cuerda de terreno para cultivar más maxán, en el futuro Manuel quiere comprar otro pick-up para seguir haciendo viajes.

ADICLA (Association for the Holistic Development of the Basin of Lake Atitlán) is nonprofit rural community development association that provides small loans and services to improve quality of life in two of the poorest regions of Guatemala, home to large indigenous populations. Kiva funding will be used to support three innovative credit initiatives: youth business loans, green loans, and smaller loans to help ADICLA move down-market and serve poorer clients.
