He makes a living selling maxán, a type of leaf that is used for wrapping tamales. He has been doing this for 35 years. He likes to grow maxán because chemicals aren't used in its production and it doesn't damage the environment. He also transports people from town to town in his pick-up. Manuel is requesting a loan from ADICLA for the amount of $925 to buy an acre of land to grow more maxán. In the future Manuel wants to buy another pick-up so that he can keep making journeys.
