Cerapio's story

Cerapio is a master weaver from Peru who creates hand-loomed wool rugs and tapestries. He wants to purchase cotton and wool to continue production.

Cerapio has been selling through NOVICA since 2000. This is his story:

"I was forced to leave my home in Ayacucho during the 1980s. Terrorists were bleeding my people to death and there seemed little hope. I inherited my passion for weaving from my parents and grandparents. But the quality of my work is the result of my long experience, and the product of my careful observation over the years. I draw inspiration from our ancient Peruvian cultures, Andean village life, and from our snow-capped mountains."

"I'm grateful to Novica and our shoppers — thanks to you I've been able to grow as an artisan and have been able to teach my art to other artisans who assist me. During the past 12 years with Novica, I've expanded from a few tapestries to a wide variety of designs for everyone's taste. With this microcredit, I'll be able to develop new designs for today's decor trends. Thank you so much!"
