The result is her decision to form a group with the objective of diversifying their products in the marketplace and, in this manner, obtaining better incomes to improve the family economy of group members. The loan will be utilized to purchase inputs for the cultivation and maintenance of their corn crops.

Iris (de blusa blanca, primera de derecha a izquierda en la fotografía) es una mujer soltera, de 38 años de edad, vive junto a sus cinco hijos, en Santo Domingo, Suchitepéquez.
Iris expresa muy orgullosa que la actividad que realiza es el cultivo y venta de maíz (base de la alimentación en Guatemala), que es un producto muy demandado en su comunidad y por lo mismo su comercialización es rentable. Esta labor le permite obtener buenos ingresos y ganancias que le ayudan a colaborar con la economía de su familia.
Ella ha venido realizando esta actividad desde muy joven, y ahora ha adquirido más conocimiento en esta área, así que tomo la decisión de formar un grupo con el objetivo de diversificar sus productos en el mercado y de esta manera obtener un ingreso para mejorar la economía de las familias de los integrantes de su grupo. El préstamo lo utilizaran para la compra de insumos para el mantenimiento y cultivo de maíz.
Su sueño es poder apoyar a sus hijos a tener una mejor calidad de vida.

ADICLA (Association for the Holistic Development of the Basin of Lake Atitlán) is nonprofit rural community development association that provides small loans and services to improve quality of life in two of the poorest regions of Guatemala, home to large indigenous populations. Kiva funding will be used to support three innovative credit initiatives: youth business loans, green loans, and smaller loans to help ADICLA move down-market and serve poorer clients.
